Zaporizhstal reduced consumption of natural gas in 2016

During 2016, the consumption of natural gas by PJSC Zaporizhstal in production activities decreased to 160 million cubic meters, which is 22 percent less than 204 million cubic meters of gas consumed in 2015. The reduction in consumption amounted to 44 million cubic meters of gas.

The reduction in natural gas consumption was achieved through the implementation of a comprehensive energy saving program at all stages of metallurgical production. In addition, the introduction of a new process for the supply of coke oven gas from PJSC Zaporozhkoks to such rolling shops as crimping and hot rolling of thin sheets, as well as the heat and power plant shop contributed to the reduction in gas consumption. In addition, the consumption of natural gas at 500-ton open-hearth furnaces has been reduced.
