ArcelorMittal Brasil and Votorantim have signed an agreement under which the Brazilian part of the Votorantim pipeline business will become a subsidiary of AMB. As a result, a company with a capacity of more than 5 million tons of steel and rolling mills will be created.
Votorantim will receive a minority stake in ArcelorMittal Brasil. This will provide the company with the capacity to produce 5.6 million tonnes of steel and 5.4 million tonnes per year. AMB will provide a mix of capacities across the various facilities, which is expected to provide synergies in procurement and operating costs.
The deal requires approval from, among other things, the antitrust authority. Until the close of the deal, ArcelorMittal Brasil and Votorantim Siderurgia will remain completely separate and independent companies.
