On February 23, 2017, a meeting of American company executives with the incumbent president of the United States at the White House was held on the creation of jobs in the manufacturing industry.
After its completion, the CEO of US Steel CEO Mario Longhi told reporters about the ability to organize the production of the required number of pipes in the country. Specifically, he said:
" We have been producing pipes in this country since the beginning of the last century, and today we are ready to produce the right pipes here, in the right quantity ."
These are the memoranda signed by Donald Trump aimed at the resumption of Keystone XL and Dakota Access pipeline projects, which will be carried out from pipes made entirely in the United States, ranging from steel smelting.
Since then, opponents of Trump have repeatedly expressed doubts that American manufacturers will be able to produce pipes of the right size. That is why Longuy's position expressed during the meeting with the President is of particular importance. Regarding pipe sizes, he said:
“ This is not a problem for us metallurgists. We are well placed to do whatever is necessary. One of the biggest challenges facing US steelmakers in recent years, especially with regard to the production and sale of US pipes, has to do with the high level of imports entering the US . ”
