Smelters from six major Asian countries, members of the global association World Steel, were able to increase their pig iron production by 5.5% in January 2017 on an annualized basis. Based on information from the WSA in numerical terms, this is 75.181 million tons.
The level of pig iron smelting in China was increased by 5.6% to a total of 57.5 million tons. In India, factories posted even greater growth of 14.9% and a total of 5.56 million tonnes. Japanese producers were able to increase their volumes by 0.5%, showing a total result of 6.921 million tonnes. Taiwan managed to achieve the same 0.5% growth with a total of 1.21 million tonnes of pig iron smelted.
And also, statisticians have calculated that the level of pig iron production in South Korea, which is also an important participant in the Asian market, increased by 3.5%, amounting to a total of 3.99 million tons. In total, according to the results of January 2017, the planet managed to increase the production of blast furnace pig iron by 5.21%. On the basis of these results, specialists make optimistic forecasts for the further development of enterprises engaged in iron smelting.
