The American Iron and Steel Institute reports growth in US steel production using 74.7% of the industry's capacity.
Last week, American plants produced 1.77 million tons of steel, up 0.2% from 1.766 million tons a week earlier. Capacity utilization rose to 74.7% from 74.6% a week earlier.
Steel production last week was 3.6% higher than the same week last year, when the mills were operating at 73.1% of their capacity.
