The Iranian Association of Iron Ore Producers and Exporters (IROPEX) believes the Iranian government should cancel plans for an export tax on iron ore.
According to previous news, Iran's Ministry of Mines and Trade announced last December that it is planned to introduce a 10% duty on iron ore exports in March this year.
IROPEX is in talks with the government that plans "to levy an export duty on iron ore are unlikely to be effective." The Association believes that the introduction of export duties will negatively affect the development of the mining industry in Iran at a time when the country seeks to attract foreign investors.
