Zaporizhstal is ready to actively promote environmental monitoring in the region

At the meeting of the Zaporizhzhya Regional State Administration, the main issue was discussed - the acquisition and installation of stationary posts for monitoring environmental pollution and the acquisition of a mobile laboratory for environmental monitoring.

Igor Chernyak, Director for Labor Protection, Industrial and Technogenic Safety of Zaporizhstal PJSC, took an active part in the discussion of the environmental monitoring project. He stressed that PJSC Zaporizhstal is implementing a comprehensive program of environmental modernization of the enterprise and is interested in the public having access to objective information about the environmental situation in the region. PJSC "Zaporizhstal" is ready to share its experience: the company has already implemented a system of online monitoring of the efficiency of gas cleaning equipment. Control sensors are installed on the reconstructed units as part of the environmental modernization of PJSC "Zaporizhstal".

“The introduction of an integrated environmental monitoring system in Zaporozhye must be implemented competently, taking into account all the subtleties and aspects. To attract world-renowned suppliers who have experience in the implementation of such large projects, to determine control points where measurements will be made, to ensure the transparency of the project implementation. Then the environmental monitoring system will work effectively, ”said Igor Chernyak, Director for Labor Protection, Industrial and Technogenic Safety of Zaporizhstal PJSC.

From 2012 to 2016, PJSC Zaporizhstal invested more than UAH 5.7 billion in environmental modernization. Among the main environmental projects of the plant are a complete ecological modernization of the plant's sinter plant with the construction of new highly efficient gas purifiers on all six sintering machines, a large-scale reconstruction of blast furnace No. 4 with the construction of an aspiration system for the casting yard and a hopper trestle, construction of a new pickling line in cold rolling shop No. 1, as well as large-scale reconstruction of blast furnace No. 3.
