Zaporizhstal completed the use of a Dutch crane for the reconstruction of a blast furnace

The Zaporizhstal plant dismantles the crane of the Dutch company Mammoet, which was used in the SKD assembly of blast furnace No. 3. The mega-crane height reaches 143 m, lifting capacity - 1600 tons, weight - 2000 tons.

The crane worked for 5 months on a large-scale reconstruction of the furnace, during this period about 7000 tons of metal structures were erected with the help of the crane. It will take another 20 days for the specialists to completely dismantle the Mammoet crane and then, using a special Liebherr crane, the mega-crane will be dismantled and placed in containers for further transportation by water to Holland.

The use of innovative technologies made it possible to shorten the terms of reconstruction of BF No. 3. The introduction of SKD during the reconstruction of a blast furnace is a phenomenon in the industrial construction of Ukraine. As a rule, similar projects in Ukraine were previously implemented for a year and a half, and now Zaporizhstal plans to carry out a complete reconstruction of the furnace in six months. The plant's investments in the ecological reconstruction of BF No. 3 amounted to UAH 1.5 billion.
