EU talks about the need to modernize the Ukrainian gas pipeline

According to EU experts, Ukraine should start investing in gas pipelines. They are not really in the best condition. In addition, the system needs to be reorganized so that it can be used as efficiently as possible.

The Ukrainian gas pipeline system is of great importance for ensuring the energy security of the European Union, as it transports over one hundred billion cubic meters of "blue fuel" annually.

Experts note that due to the difficult economic situation in Ukraine, not enough money has been invested in pipelines in recent years. As a result, there is a possibility of a major accident, and, as a result, problems with gas supply to the European Union, EU experts say.

Hence the need for hundreds of millions of dollars of investment. On the other hand, Ukraine must begin to reorganize its gas system. For two years, Ukraine has not bought gas from Russia. As a result, some of the pipelines have lost their significance. According to experts, almost a third of the transit gas pipeline is empty, also as a result of Russian gas supplies to the EU via Nord Stream.

In this regard, Ukraine should inspect pipes that are primarily used for gas transit to the EU, as well as modernize the main gas pipeline system in Ukraine. Thus, it would be possible to guarantee supply and transit for large Ukrainian consumers. Part of the pipeline due to lack of use can be excluded from the system.
