Steel production in China rose 4.6 percent year on year to 201.1 million tonnes in the first quarter of 2017, compared with a slight decline in the same period last year, the China Steel Industry Association said.
The growth is the result of higher levels of manufacturability and lower base compared to last year, the Metallurgical Association of China said in a press release.
