Located in the picturesque Pearl River Delta in Shenzhen, the skyscraper will consist of 71 floors, of which 5 are underground. The building is 392.5 m high and has a rounded figure that tapers towards the top. The glass façade is supported by 56 stainless steel columns in a diamond pattern. The exterior design will avoid columns inside the building. The building, which is expected to cost RMB 20 billion, will be completed in 2018.
According to Outokumpu, stainless steel is becoming increasingly popular in the Chinese construction industry, replacing other materials such as aluminum due to its longer life and ease of maintenance.
