In November 2016, the Canadian government approved Kinder Morgan Canada's plan to expand the existing Trans Mountain Pipeline system between Edmonton, Alberta and Burnaby, British Columbia.
For the construction of the Trans Mountain pipeline, an agreement was reached with EVRAZ North America for the supply of approximately 250,000 tonnes of pipes covering a length of approximately 800 km.
More than 75 percent of the pipes required for the project will be supplied from Regina EVRAZ North America, a subsidiary of Russian EVRAZ. The deal is subject to Kinder Morgan's final investment decision in the third quarter of this year.
EVRAZ North America is the only manufacturer of pipes used in oil and gas pipelines. The steel company has produced over 63,000 kilometers since 1956.
