US urges UK to jointly oppose aluminum subsidies

Representatives of the US aluminum industry on Wednesday sent a letter to British Prime Minister Theresa May, in which they called on the European Aluminum Association to actively protect the domestic aluminum industry from Chinese subsidies.

An industry group claims that China is unfairly subsidizing domestic heavy industry, in violation of World Trade Organization (WTO) rules.

The American organization asked the British Prime Minister "to actively negotiate with the WTO on this issue on behalf of the aluminum industry, and would ask the WTO to take action." The British Prime Minister's office declined to comment for the media.
