According to the US Department of Commerce and the US International Trade Commission, US scrap exports to Turkey totaled 542,000 tonnes in the first quarter of this year, down 37.4% from the same period last year. Exports fell to their lowest level in the first quarter of 2010.
The United States is the world's largest exporter of scrap metal and Turkey is the largest importer of ferrous scrap.
