China's steel production hit a new all-time high of 72.78 million tonnes during April, up 4.9% year on year, according to data released by the National Bureau of Statistics on Monday.
The daily steel output in April averaged 2.43 million tonnes, up 4% from the average daily output in March, and also became the highest daily steel output in history.
In January-April, China's steel production totaled 273.87 million tons, up 4.6% year on year.
Meanwhile, China produced 62.58 million tonnes of pig iron in April, up 5.4% year on year. Pig iron production in China in the first four months of this year increased by 4.2% year on year to 238.21 million tons.
