The latest report released by the International Stainless Steel Federation (ISSF) claims that stainless steel production recorded an average annual growth rate of 5.8% between 1950 and 2015, significantly higher than that of other metals.
At the same time, there is a significant jump in the regional share of stainless steel production in China. Chinese production, which stood at 13% in 2005, jumped to 54% in 2016
year.
On the other hand, the share of the EU-27 countries and other Asian countries, with the exception of China, fell sharply over this period.
The share of stainless steel production in Asia, excluding China, decreased from 39% in 2005 to 22% in 2016. In addition, the share of EU-27 countries more than doubled to 16% in 2016 from 34% in 2005. The share of the Americas declined from 11% to 6% during this period.
