Egypt has imposed temporary tariffs on rebar from Ukraine, China and Turkey to protect local producers suffering from cheap imports, the Commerce Department said.
The tariff will be set at 17 percent for Chinese steel, 10-19 percent for Turkey for steel, and 15-27 percent for Ukrainian steel.
The decision follows an investigation that took into account complaints from local manufacturers that are unable to compete with the imported alternative, the statement said.
“This (decision) is designed to protect local production from harmful import practices,” Trade Minister Tark Kabil said in a statement.
