MMK increases investments in environmental projects

In 2017, the Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works will invest 3.8 billion rubles in environmental protection. This is the highest level in recent years.

The most important objects of environmental investments are the completion of the reconstruction of the sulfur trapping unit No. 2 in the sinter shop this year; construction of aspiration systems for foundry yards at blast furnaces No. 9 and No. 10; reconstruction of gas cleaning systems at a two-bath steel-making unit and steel finishing units in the electric steel-making shop; commencement of reconstruction of the MMK recycling water supply system.

According to the plan, over 35 billion rubles will be invested in the implementation of MMK's environmental policy until 2025. The priority area of ​​MMK's environmental activities is to reduce emissions of pollutants into the atmosphere. MMK has developed a strategic initiative "Clean City", the goal of which is to achieve a low level of air pollution in Magnitogorsk by 2025.
