BMI Research announced that it has cut its forecast for global nickel production by 5% from 1%, which means that nickel production will be reduced to 243,000 tons from 256,000 tons in 2016.
BMI cuts its forecast for production of Russian nickel ore in 2017. In addition, nickel ore production in Russia is expected to remain pessimistic over the next five years.
Meanwhile, BMI predicted that nickel ore production in Russia would continue to decline this year after falling 4.8% last year due to the nickel production problem at Norilsk Nickel, which accounts for more than 80% of the country's nickel production.
