Top managers of ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih PJSC informed the city community about the implementation of environmental protection measures in steel production.
In particular, the heads of the Kryvyi Rih Metallurgical Combine spoke about the planned shutdown of the two-bath steel-making unit of the open-hearth shop as part of the transfer of the unit to direct-flow operation, the reconstruction of the gas cleaning units of converter No. 4 of the converter shop, and a large-scale project for the reconstruction of all gas cleaning plants involved in steel production. It was announced that within the framework of the implementation of a large-scale environmental project for the reconstruction of the second block of converters, converter No. 4 was put into operation in the converter shop.
During the reconstruction, a new highly efficient gas purification unit was built with a compact two-stage scrubber from SMS Siemag, which ensures the achievement of the state dust standard of less than 50 mg /m3 and a 91% reduction in dust emissions. Also, converter gas was burned on a flare stack, which will reduce carbon monoxide emissions by 90%. At the moment, converter # 4 is in the process of commissioning.
According to the press service of the company, PJSC ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih is as open as possible to the public in environmental issues and is ready to dialogue with all stakeholders in order to effectively resolve issues aimed at improving the environment in the region.
