Crude steel production in Ukraine in August 2017 amounted to 939 thousand tons, an increase of 0.5 percent compared to the same period in 2016. However, compared to July of this year, steel production decreased by 3.7 percent.
During 8 months of 2017, 7 million 113 thousand tons of steel were produced, which is 6.4 percent less than the corresponding indicator of the previous year. Pig iron production in August fell by 9 percent on an annualized basis, but increased by 15 percent on a monthly basis to 1 million 782 thousand tons.
Finished sheet metal production in August 2017 compared to August 2016. fell by 16.5 percent, amounting to 969 thousand tons, which is 1.7 m lower compared to July 2017. For 8 months of this year, 7 million 907 thousand tons of rolled products were produced, including steel sheet, which is 10.3 percent lower in annual comparison.
