Companies associated with Iranian state-owned mines and the Imidro metallurgical holding company produced 27.9 million tonnes of iron ore concentrate in the first nine months of the current Iranian fiscal year, March 21 - December 21, up 17% from a year earlier.
With the start of several iron ore pelletizing projects, there has been a big leap forward. During this period, about 23.62 million tons of iron ore pellets were mined, which is 26% more than in the previous year. In addition, 14.32 million tonnes of direct reduced iron was produced, reflecting an increase of 15% per year.
Steel output also rose sharply. About 12.77 million tonnes of steel were produced by Iran's large mills, up 19% over the previous year.
About 1.66 million tons of crude steel were produced in the last Iranian month, up 23% from a year ago.
The country's steel production is expected to be 32.5 million tonnes next year, but the plan is to increase the throughput to 55 million tonnes per year by 2025, in line with the country's strategic steel expansion plan.
In Iran, the production of steel and iron ore is growing from year to year
