Steel production statistics published by the Worldsteel show that the output of the 64 reporting countries rose significantly in July 2018. These countries accounted for approximately 99% of all global steel production in 2017.
According to Worldsteel, world steel production in July 2018 was 154.576 million tonnes, up 5.8% from the previous year. Steel production in these countries was only 146.105 million tonnes in the same month a year earlier. Incidentally, China, the world's largest steel producer, posted 7.2% year-on-year growth. During the month, the country accounted for almost 53% of total world production.
