PJSC "ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih" modernizes the energy infrastructure of the enterprise

PJSC ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih has built a new blast-furnace gas pipeline with a length of more than one kilometer and a cost of over UAH 134 million. Now the commissioning and transfer to the balance sheet are being completed, after which the gas pipeline will be put into operation.

The new gas pipeline was laid from the largest blast furnace at the enterprise No. 9 to the gas supply network, through which blast furnace gas is supplied to the enterprise's shops. The gas pipeline was installed on a new single-tier overpass, which was erected on high supports, with the possibility of vehicles passing through the on-site roads and railways. The new gas pipeline will minimize the risks of emergencies during its operation and ensure safe and uninterrupted gas supply to production units.

This year, the compressed air pipeline in the oxygen production of PJSC ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih was also updated. As a result of this project, the average monthly production losses of compressed air during its transportation to blast furnace shop No. 2 were halved. The consumption of electricity during the production of compressed air at air separation plants has also significantly decreased, which in turn leads to a decrease in the cost of production of the enterprise.

In addition, at present, PJSC "ArcelorMital Kryvyi Rih" is completing the construction of a two-tiered blast-furnace gas collector for blast furnaces No. 7, 8 worth over UAH 62 million. Next year, it is planned to lay modern gas pipelines of blast furnace and coke oven gases from this collector to CHPP-2. Thanks to the new facilities, the enterprise will be able to decommission outdated branches of gas pipelines with a total length of more than 1.6 kilometers, which will improve energy efficiency and environmental safety of the production process. Thus, in 2019, PJSC ArcelorMital Kryvyi Rih will continue to update the strategic energy infrastructure of the enterprise.
