A recent poll conducted on behalf of the Alliance of American Manufacturing, The Mellman Group, Inc., indicates that 63% of the 2018 electorate support Chinese tariffs or give them more time. The survey was conducted from August 28 to September 9, 2018.
According to the survey, nearly 33% of respondents said the federal administration should support China's tariffs. Meanwhile, 30% said the US should give China more time. In addition, many voters were identified as concerned about possible measures to address China's unfair trade practices, rather than a potential trade war.
A huge 81% of survey respondents expressed full support for the government's actions to increase its influence on China and other countries. Nearly 54% consider it necessary to protect American companies and workers from China's continued violations of international trade rules. However, 37% fear that tariffs will trigger a global trade war.
