US Steel Mills Shipments Rise Significantly

Cumulative US steel shipments during the initial eight-month period of 2018 increased 4.6% year-on-year to 63.657 million tonnes.

Steel shipments by American factories have increased significantly during August this year, according to the latest statistics released by the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) compared to August 2017. Shipments also increased markedly from the previous month.

In August 2018, shipments to American steel mills totaled 8.442 million tonnes. This is up 6.5% compared to deliveries of 7.929 million tonnes in the same month last year. Compared to the previous month, deliveries increased by 6.7%. In July of this year, the volume of shipments of American steel mills amounted to 7.911 million tons.

Galvanized sheet shipments reported the highest jump in the previous month, climbing 11% higher. In addition, shipments of cold-rolled sheets and hot-rolled sheets increased by 3%.
