US steel exports in the first eight months of 2018 increased by 25.39%, delivering US $ 492.53 million compared to US $ 392.8 million in the corresponding period in 2017.
Mexico was the top trading partner in August this year, according to US data. Exports to this country increased significantly, by almost one third to $ 204.54 million. This represents about 42% of total US exports, most of which are steel bars. The second largest export destination is Canada, which accounts for USD 201.27 million of total US exports. Other key importers were China (US $ 12.79 million), UK (US $ 9.86 million) and Poland (US $ 8.04 million)
Aggregate exports to the aforementioned five destinations amounted to US $ 436.49 million, accounting for 88.62% of total exports.
