Global steel production totaled 151.711 million tonnes in September 2018, up from 145.280 million tonnes in the same month a year earlier. The growth in steel production was primarily driven by China, whose production volume compared to the previous year was 7.5%. Chinese production accounted for more than 53% of the total world production.
