Following the acquisition of four ArcelorMittal plants in Europe in mid-October, Liberty House Group went to acquire an additional stake in ArcelorMittal related to its takeover of Ilva.

By agreeing to bids from Liberty for a full package of mandatory divestitures, ArcelorMittal faced the EU's preference for finding a single eligible buyer, it said in a statement. The assets are the final part of the agreement agreed with the European Commission for the acquisition of Italy's Ilva.
The closure of the transaction will facilitate the completion of the Ilva acquisition, which ArcelorMittal announced on November 1. This is due to EU approval and the completion of consultations with local and European work councils, the group notes.
Liberty was rumored to be interested in the Benelux lines, as he struck a deal for four plants shortly thereafter, as union sources in Belgium and Luxembourg were informed that a new bid had been received on the line. Prior to this, NLMK, SSAB and Salzgitter showed interest in these lines.
