For 10 months of 2018, the export of Turkish metal products increased, compared to the same period in 2017, by 15.5% to 16.8 million tons, providing an increase of 35.2% in monetary terms.
The expansion of the Turkish metallurgical presence in the Latin American markets was observed, the volume of supplies to which for the period January-October of this year increased by 8.4% compared to 2017. The volume of exports to this region reached 1.1 million tons, and the main consumers of rolled metal products of Turkish origin include Chile, which received 167 thousand tons, Panama - 134 thousand tons and Colombia - 117 thousand tons. The export products were construction metal - 508 thousand tons, wire rod - 221 thousand tons and long products - 105 thousand tons.
A two-fold increase in the duty on the import of Turkish metal products to the United States with a general duty level of 25%, a 50% duty was applied for Turkish metal products, and the tariff quota introduced by the European Commission is unable to stop the export of Turkish metal products due to the active diversification of supplies.
