Brazil has launched an official review of anti-dumping duties on imports of seamless steel pipes from China, according to a document from the local foreign trade secretariat of the Brazilian Ministry of Industry.
The Brazilian authorities note that there is sufficient evidence of damage to the domestic production of these products. The study was initiated at the request of the local manufacturer Vallourec Soluçoes Tubulares do Brasil SA in June 2012.
Responsibilities for seamless steel pipes covered carbon line lines used in the oil or gas sector with an outer diameter of more than 141.3 mm but not more than 355.6 mm.
In line with this decision, Brazil will continue to meet commitments for seamless pipes of Chinese origin between $ 778.9 and $ 835.47 during the current review. A formal investigation must be completed within ten months, according to the MDIC.
