Russian manufacturer TMK, a market leader in tubular products for the oil and gas industry, has commissioned new coating equipment at its Wilder TMK IPSCO facility in North America. The coating protects the pipeline from corrosion and mechanical damage.
The plant manufactures pipes up to 24 inches (609.6 mm) in diameter in Fusion Epoxy (FBE), Abrasion Resistant Coating (ARO) and Special Coating.
The Wilder facility is certified to industry standards including CSA Z245.20 (Canada's national standards, the strictest in North America), NACE SP0394 and AWWA C213, as well as specific end-user standards and high-level equipment for quality and material control.
The launch will expand IPSCO's high value-added product line and expand pipe sales to the North American market.
Vyacheslav Popkov, TMK Senior Vice President for Manufacturing, commented: “The new facility will make TMK IPSCO products more reliable and more cost effective for consumers. Its strategic location and the high quality tubular products now available with special coatings provide our US division with a strong competitive advantage that will drive continued growth. ”
The facility is located in Kentucky, close to the rich natural gas fields of the Marcellus reservoir. The facility is part of the TMK IPSCO (American subsidiary of TMK).
