Turkish President Recep Erdogan signed Decree No. 138 to introduce interim safeguards in the form of a global tariff quota of 200 days for imports of rolled metal, regardless of the country of origin and export.
This tariff quota began on October 17, 2018 and will last until May 4, 2019. At the same time, in contrast to the European global tariff quota, within which all rolled metal is divided into 28 assortment groups, the Turkish side chose an easier way, having formed only 5 such groups, which, however, covered the entire assortment of finished products.
Each group unites standard sizes that are completely different in their application, united exclusively on the basis of “external features” - flat products, long products, etc. And it seems that the Turkish Ministry of Commerce is not going to carry out further breakdown of the assortment within each of the groups.
