ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih invested 349 million dollars in production development

During 10 months of 2018, PJSC ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih invested $ 349 million in the development of production, including capital investments of $ 271.3 million, operating investments - $ 77.4 million.

The main part of capital and operating expenses is directed to the renewal and development of metallurgical production, namely, the construction of two new continuous casting machines (CCMs No. 2, 3) with a capacity of 1.4 million tons per year each. Capital expenditures amounted to about $ 144 million. At the moment, 97% of metal structures have been assembled and about 75% of all construction work has been completed. The deliveries of the main equipment of SMS Group have been completed by 2/3, now they are already being installed. It is planned that one of the constructed continuous casting machines will produce the first billet by the beginning of spring.

Another investment project is the reconstruction of the small section mill No. 250-4. Currently, 80% of the main equipment of the DANIELI company has already been delivered, 95% of the detailed engineering has been completed, the foundations have been built for 70% of the total project scope. The total cost of the project is about $ 55 million. The design capacity of the mill after reconstruction will be over 1 million tons of reinforcing bars per year. It will be possible to produce fittings No. 8-24 in bundles. In addition, the mill will be able to produce rebar in bundles up to 14 meters long using a new mechanized packaging line.

Along with this, ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih continues the reconstruction of sinter shop No. 2, which costs about $ 150 million. To date, two of the six sintering machines in the shop have been reconstructed: No. 5 and 6. The remaining four sinter machines (No. 1–4) will be updated in 2019–2020. - contracts for the supply of equipment have already been signed. The renovation will improve environmental performance in terms of emissions, while productivity will increase by 10%.

Back in April of this year, tests began on the updated coke oven battery No. 5 (in February 2017 - battery No. 6) - this is the largest project in the last few years at the enterprise. The entire complex of new batteries will cost the company $ 160 million.

The investment program for 2018 is also being implemented in the mining and processing department of the enterprise. In particular, the modernization of crushing and ore-processing plants, replacement of pumping units, restoration of existing mining and transport equipment, acquisition of new heavy-duty dump trucks, etc. is underway.

Throughout 2018, the company has planned capital and operating investments in the amount of $ 400 million.
