Wire rod of PJSC "ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih" will replace imported in the production of frames for brake systems "Ukrzaliznytsia"

Ukrainian wire rod has become an alternative to the supply of Chinese metal products, which were previously used in the manufacture of pads for brake systems of locomotives and freight cars of Ukrzaliznytsia.

In October, PJSC ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih dispatched the first batch of its metal products in the amount of 20 tons to the Belaya Tserkov plant Tribo, which is the only manufacturer of pads for brake systems in Ukraine. For their production, the plant has already begun to use wire rod (steel grade SAE1008) produced by PJSC ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih. The company manufactures these metal products with responsible quality control, in accordance with the chemical composition and mechanical properties. These metal products of the enterprise are alloyed with boron, which makes it possible to improve the macrostructure of the wire rod and evenly distribute its mechanical properties along the entire length.

The total supply of steel wire rod produced by PJSC ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih will amount to 1,000 tons annually.

- The brake pad is an important product for which increased operational requirements are imposed. For our part, we checked the quality of the original wire rod for compliance with the stated requirements in our laboratory, formed the metal frames of the brake pads, and tested them at our certified test bench. The pad has successfully passed all the necessary tests and has been handed over for use. Now, as a result of our joint work, the freight trains of Ukrzaliznytsia will brake with a shoe, the frame of which is made of wire rod of PJSC ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih.
