China's crude steel production in November fell 6% from October to 77.62 million tonnes, but rose 10.8% year-on-year, according to data released by the National Bureau of Statistics. The annual growth rate also rose from 9.1% in October.
The drop in steel production in November was the result of a winter production cut that began on November 15 in northern and eastern China in an effort to cope with air pollution.
In January-November, the volume of steel production in China amounted to 857.37 million tons, which is 6.7% more than in the same period last year.
Meanwhile, China's pig iron production rose 9.9% year-on-year to 63.73 million tonnes in November, although it was down 5.9% from October.
