Steel production for the current year was 91.294 million tonnes prior to the week ending December 15, 2018.
Domestic weekly steel production increased significantly from the prior year for the week ended December 15, 2018. This is in line with the latest production statistics published by the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI). In addition, the weekly output is up slightly from the previous week.
For the week ended December 15, 2018, US steel production was 1.890 million net onn (NT) at a capacity utilization rate of 80.6%. It should be noted that production was only 1.667 million tonnes with a lower capacity utilization of 71.9% during the corresponding week in 2017. In addition, production during the week rose marginally by 0.7% over the previous week's production of 1.876 million tonnes.
