According to the Japan Iron and Steel Federation, crude steel production in Japan, starting in April 2019, may increase slightly over the current fiscal year due to continued demand from infrastructure in the country.
Steel production for the current fiscal year ending in March is expected to remain flat from 104.8 million tonnes in the previous year, the industry department said.
