In 2018, ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih's investments in the environment exceeded UAH 600 million

In 2018, the total environmental expenditures of ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih exceeded UAH 600 million. Environmental measures allow the company to comply with environmental standards established by law.

The company annually allocates funds for the implementation of large investment projects, as well as for the repair of fixed assets for environmental protection. These repairs help to keep the equipment in good working order and not increase the burden on the environment. So, in 2018, in the divisions of metallurgical production, repairs of gas purification units of sintering machines No. 1 and 5, two-bath steel-making unit No. 6, converter No. 3 were carried out. Repair work was also carried out on power equipment (CHPP-3, cooling towers, water pipelines).

As for the mining department, in 2018, the modernization of crushing and ore processing plants was actively underway - the reconstruction of gas cleaning equipment, repairs of slurry pipelines and replacement of pumping units in the sludge management workshop were carried out. Last year, the enterprise carried out commissioning works to commission new aspiration units of sections No. 4, 5, 6 of the ore processing plant No. 1.

In addition, when implementing large-scale investment projects, ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih implements the best available technologies, thanks to which it is possible to gradually reduce the burden on the environment. Among the main investment projects are the reconstruction of coke oven batteries No. 5, 6 using a set of environmental protection measures and an automated environmental monitoring system, the modernization of sinter shop No. 2, the construction of two new continuous casting machines and new gas purification units behind converters No. 4, 5, 6 s afterburning of CO and the introduction of an automated environmental monitoring system, the reconstruction of ore processing factories of the mining department, a peak boiler house, tailings and other projects.

From 2006 to 2018, ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih invested UAH 6.2 billion in the environment, reconstructed and built more than 120 gas cleaning units, which made it possible to achieve state standards.
