Production data for January show that crude steel output from the 64 reporting countries increased by almost 1% over the previous year. These countries accounted for almost 99% of all global steel production in 2017.
World crude steel production in January 1919 was 146.705 million tons, up from 145.183 million tons in January 2018.
China was the leader in global steel production with a production volume of 75.013 million tonnes. The country accounts for more than 51% of the world's crude steel production.
