Iranian finished steel production increased 8% year on year in the 11 months to Feb 19 to 19.6 million tonnes.
Production of hot-rolled flat products in 11 months increased by 3% to 7.28 million tonnes, while production of rebar increased by 24% to 7.1 million tonnes. Cold-rolled steel production rose 9% to 2.34 million tonnes, while sheet steel production fell 9% to 1.27 million tonnes.
Crude steel production increased 13%, with billet and ferrous metal production at 12.96 million tonnes and slab production at 9.74 million tonnes.
Meanwhile, there was a decrease in the production of direct reduced iron, meanwhile, increased by 19% in 11 months to 24.3 million tons.
Major Iranian steelmakers reported a 11% drop in overall steel exports in 11 months to 5.1 million tonnes, driven by a decline in semi-finished products.
According to the Steel Manufacturers Association of Iran (ISPA), rebar is the only finished product that recorded an increase in apparent consumption over the ten months to 20 January. Slow consumption was offset by a 102% rise in finished goods exports to 2.4 million tonnes.
