ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih will continue to modernize its strategic energy infrastructure: the company recently signed several contracts.
One of them is the delivery of a new cooling tower 16B. It is needed to cool the water in the circulating cycle of water supply to CHPP-2, blast furnaces No. 7, 8 and the compressor station of oxygen production. The new cooling tower is planned to be commissioned this summer. The enterprise will allocate more than UAH 67 million for these purposes.
More than UAH 65 million will be spent by ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih on the reconstruction of the overpass of technological communications from gas cleaning No. 5 to blast furnace No. 9. Trays are laid under the overpass through which sludge from gas cleaning is discharged, cables, water pipes, steam and air pipelines are also located here. All these networks will be updated, and instead of the old trays, there will be strong ones made of wear-resistant material. As a result, this will ensure stable and trouble-free operation of the blast furnace. Work on the site has already begun and is scheduled to be completed in the third quarter.
In addition, ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih is completely changing the company's gas supply system - it is building new gas pipelines to replace worn-out ones.
Earlier in 2018, a new section of the blast furnace gas pipeline with a length of more than one kilometer was commissioned. It is laid from blast furnace shop No. 2 (gas cleaning of the ninth blast furnace) to the collector, with the connection of the main consumers - CHP-3 and air heaters of blast furnace No. 9.
In 2019-2020 it is planned to replace the gas pipeline system on the territory of blast furnace shop No. 1, the personnel of which maintains three blast furnaces (No. 6, 7 and 8). In particular, the first string of the coke oven gas pipeline from the coke production plant will be replaced with the connection of the CHPP-1 boilers from the new collector. Plus - they will reconstruct gas discharge device No. 4 and build a collector of blast furnace gas for blast furnaces No. 7, 8, from which new pipelines of blast furnace and coke oven gases will be laid to CHPP-2.
The total length of the new gas pipelines will be about one kilometer. Thanks to the new facilities, the enterprise will be able to decommission outdated sections of the blast furnace and coke oven gas pipelines 4.3 kilometers long. This will increase the energy efficiency and reliability of the equipment in terms of environmental safety. The total construction cost exceeds UAH 270 million.
