China's Ministry of Commerce said it will introduce temporary anti-dumping measures from March 23 on stainless steel billets and hot rolled stainless steel sheets sourced from the European Union, Japan, South Korea and Indonesia.
The ministry said it would collect taxes from companies such as Japan's Nippon Yakin Kogyo Co. Ltd and South Korean POSCO ranging from 18.1% to 103.1%.
In addition, Indonesia and China on Friday imposed anti-dumping duties on each other's steel imports, escalating a global tariff conflict over one of the most widely used metals in the world.
Indonesia has increased anti-dumping duties to 20 percent on imports of flat steel and pig iron from seven countries, including China, Russia and India.
These duties, in effect since 2013, affect Chinese giants Angang Steel Co and Baoshan Iron and Steel Co, Russia's Severstal and India's Essar Steel. The extension will take effect 14 days after March 19, when the government signed the decree.
Indonesia also imposed a tax on imports of flat products from Taiwan, Thailand, Kazakhstan and Belarus, and separately imposed an anti-dumping duty of 11.9% on certain other iron and steel products from China.
