Turkish export prices for hot rolled coil remained within the range desired by producers after resisting extremely low bids. Small tonnages were sold at these relatively high prices last week.
After a significant price cut two weeks ago by one plant to fill the April books, and due to a weakening euro, the plant exited the market only to return with significantly higher bids. He turned down bids from US $ 500 per tonne in Turkey in some directions, keeping bids at US $ 540-545 per tonne throughout the year. This is in line with the proposals of other suppliers, as well as the quality and terms offered by the plant.
At the same time, it is not expected that Turkish factories will continue to make concessions. This is despite continued pressure given the sources of HRC in southern Europe at € 500 /t ($ 565 /t) from a southern European port, according to sources. To compete with these, say, Italian prices in Spain, Turkish factories need to keep supply at attractive levels below $ 525 /FOB tonne.
