The Luxembourg company Paul Wurth, a member of the SMS group, was entrusted with the task of overhauling the blast furnace of MMK, which ranks second in Russia.
According to Paul Wuerth, “After a fundamental renovation and modernization, the blast furnace will look like a structure without an annular bulkhead. Paul Wuerth will help MMK determine the profile of the upgraded furnace, taking into account the raw material base and the customer's process conditions. "
He said there will be detailed engineering for the heated abdominal and abdominal areas, cooling elements and the primary cooling system. The company will also supply horizontally positioned copper cooling plates, high conductivity graphite refractory bricks and packing materials.
“A complete EIC package for a dedicated pumping station with heat exchangers and associated refrigeration circuit will be part of the deliverables,” said Paul Wuerth, adding that on-site monitoring will be carried out in the periods prior to shutdown and shutdown prior to commissioning. ,
At the moment MMK blast furnace number two is a "typical furnace". It was developed by JSC "Magnitogorsk Gipromez" with an internal volume of 1380 cubic meters, two holes and a daily production of 3800 tons of hot metal. It was equipped with a compact type BLT developed by Paul Wurth in March 2010 and has a total of six original Paul Wurth Bell Less Top charging systems operated by MMK's metallurgical plants.
