The Ministry of Trade of the Republic of Turkey has initiated a protective investigation into the import of metal products into the customs territory of Turkey, regardless of the country of origin or export.
On October 17, 2018, by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Turkey, preliminary protective measures were introduced for a period of 200 days for a number of product groups in the form of global tariff quotas, followed by a 25% duty after their exhaustion. The period of validity of this preliminary measure ended on May 5, 2019, while for all assortment categories, without exception, the level of use of quotas did not exceed 50%.
Based on the results obtained, the Turkish Ministry of Commerce concluded that during the period of the preliminary protective measures, there was no increase in metallurgical imports, as well as any damage or threat of damage caused by imports of metal products.
Based on the current situation, the Turkish Ministry of Commerce decided to terminate the investigation without taking any measures regarding the imported rolled metal. This decision entered into force on May 7, 2019.
