On May 16, the first mechatronics laboratory in the region was opened at NTU “Dneprovskaya Polytechnica”. The educational space was created with the support of the Ukrainian industrial company INTERPIPE.
Mechatronics is the technical profession of the future, the essence of which lies in the management, maintenance and repair of industrial robots and modern automated equipment.
In the new laboratory, students of Dneprovskaya Polytechnic will study the basics of industrial automation and controller programming. Classes will be held on the German educational equipment Fishertechnik and are designed for students of the specialties "Electrical Engineering", "Electromechanics" and "Power Engineering".
The equipment at the laboratory is a simulator of industrial production. The kit consists of nine programmable elements that allow you to simulate the production processes of a modern enterprise. They include a belt conveyor, a sorting line, an automated warehouse, a pressing line, robots with vacuum and mechanical grippers, etc. Objects are controlled from a controller programmed in the ROBO Pro environment or in C, C ++, C # and VB.
“The opening of the mechatronics laboratory is part of our efforts to revive interest in technical specialties,” says Dmitry Kisilevsky, Director of Corporate Relations at Interpipe. - Today, the factories of the Company have more than 200 units of automated equipment and CNC machines. The need for specialists to service and operate this technique is growing. It is important that educational institutions respond to the needs of production and train specialists in demand ”.
In addition to teaching students, Dneprovskaya Polytechnic uses the laboratory in vocational guidance work with schoolchildren. High school students within the framework of special educational programs in mechatronics will be able to master the basics of this discipline and choose a promising specialty.
“It is important that the applicant chooses the technical profession consciously,” says Alexander Azyukovsky, first vice-rector of NTU “Dneprovskaya Polytechnika”. - The laboratory will expand our capabilities to show high school students the attractiveness of modern engineering and offer them high-quality training in the specialties in demand. In addition to the full-time course on mechatronics, we are also planning to launch a virtual laboratory. If the curriculum is approved by the Ministry of Education and Science, this initiative will allow introducing training in the basics of mechatronics in any school that has a computer with appropriate software and the Internet.
