ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih put into operation the second waste water quality control post. Thus, the company has completed the implementation of a modern automated wastewater monitoring system, which has no analogues in Ukraine. Investments amounted to UAH 12.2 million.
ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih is one of the first industrial enterprises to introduce such a system. Back in 2008, three automated water measuring posts appeared to account for the volume of wastewater discharges, which before the acquisition of the enterprise by ArcelorMittal was carried out by calculation. In 2017, permission was obtained to commission an automated water quality control post, and in 2019 - another similar one.
These two stations are equipped with modern equipment from leading world manufacturers - Hach Lange (Germany), Seibold Composer (Austria), SYSTEA (Italy), Sontek (USA). Monitoring is carried out on six indicators: pH (pH), chlorides, iron, oil products, suspended solids, temperature. At the same time, imported equipment works at control posts around the clock and remotely, without the presence of a person. All data is automatically transferred to the server for analysis by interested parties.
The station equipment is controlled by a universal communication module. It collects and prepares data from measuring equipment, and transmits information about the content of pollutants in wastewater to the server via GPRS. Plus the module can control the auxiliary equipment of the post. There is also a backup power supply - a gas generator, thanks to which the control post can work for four hours from the moment the power supply is cut off.
Continuous automatic quantitative and qualitative monitoring of wastewater composition makes it possible to identify the main sources of pollutant discharge and make effective decisions regarding production technologies.
