MMK supplies a record number of long products

In May, the Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works shipped 181,070 tons of long products to consumers, which is a record indicator of monthly shipments of this type of product since the launch of the existing divisions. The previous record was 172,000 tonnes of long products shipped by MMK in July 2015. The enterprise is currently operating at full capacity.

Last year the Company produced about 1.8 million tons of long products, with 98% of all sales going to the Russian market and the CIS countries. With a focus on increasing profits, MMK is systematically reducing the share of its regular product range and increasing the share of high-margin long products, which already account for about 30% of sales.

In 2005-2006, three modern fully automated plants of the Italian company Danieli with a total capacity of more than 2 million tons of long products per year were put into operation in the long workshop of the plant, which allowed them to be decommissioned. from four old long mills. These mills were the first to be built on the territory of the former Soviet Union in the post-Soviet era, and they are equipped with the most modern equipment in the world. Since the launch of the new plants, more than 20 million tonnes of long products have been produced.
