New energy-saving technologies are being introduced at MMK named after Ilyich

Energy-efficient lighting is great in every sense: it does not harm the health of employees and adds economic health to production. In the oxygen converter shop and sheet metal shop 1,700 of the Ilyich Iron and Steel Works Metinvest Group have completed the modernization of the ceiling lighting. Installed 2,269 LED-lamps, which save up to 80% of electricity.

The supply of equipment and installation processes in these two workshops began in March, and in June the final acceptance of both facilities took place. The installation of new energy-efficient lighting was carried out by DTEK ESCO within the framework of a memorandum of cooperation with Metinvest Group.

Preliminary design and calculation of lighting was carried out with the help of the Dialux special program. The required illumination level of industrial sites was selected - 200 Lux. The number and power of the lamps were calculated, and the factor was taken into account that after several years of operation of the devices, they slightly reduce the level of illumination and give out 180 Lux.

540 LED luminaires from the world's leading manufacturer were installed for the converters. They tripled the light level in the workshop. The same lighting devices in the amount of 1,729 units appeared at the rolling stock of the 1700 mill. In addition, an autonomous generator was installed in the LPC-1700 turbine hall, which, in the event of an emergency power outage, will automatically turn on the lighting in this important area.

Power engineers of the metallurgical plant note that the replacement of the lighting system will reduce the electricity consumption in these workshops by more than 80%, and DTEK ESCO will receive a return on investment solely from a part of the funds saved by the metallurgical plant.

To effectively promote this area, the company has developed and is implementing an energy saving program. Technological processes are being modernized. Energy-saving technologies are being introduced. In particular, the modernization of lighting at production sites is being carried out, which allows the company not only to save money, but to create safer and more comfortable working conditions for our employees.
